Sims 2 sims would do random stuff just to start shit. For example, in the sims 2, if your sim caught another sim cheating, they would go and tell the partner who was being cheated on what they saw. There's not even an interaction for that really in the sims 4. They would also do their wants and fears autonomously a lot of the time.

Sims 1 is the best. It's the game I have played the most. Sims 3 is second best but I wish it had Sims 1 superstar and making magic and couple of other things. Sims 2 is good too in small pieces because my save games start to crash after many generations of the same family.

Sims 3 is much better than 4. You need far less mods with sims 3, less bugs, it's more stable, the customization power, open world, story progression, you can place lots anywhere, you can make your own world, you can load amazing worlds from other people, sims 4 could literally never. Sims have personality and actually do stuff.
There isn't much content compared to 3. Although it is fun to go play it in short bursts occasionally, maybe a couple of hours per month. Sims 3 is so open compared to 2 and it feels like getting out of a tiny cramped car after a 12 hour road trip and stretching your legs. Basically, 3 has more potential and 2 is just about nostalgia.
